Abstract
A system for changing the stiffness of a ski includes a set of finger members movable longitudinally as the ski bends, and a cam disc having peripheral members for engaging the finger members to increase the stiffness of the ski as the ski bends.
Claims24
A system for changing the stiffness of a ski, said system comprising:
- a support member having a fixed end portion attachable to the ski and a free end portion movable longitudinally along the ski as the ski bends;
- a set of resilient finger members extending from the free end portion of the support member and being engageable in the direction of longitudinal movement to add stiffness to the ski against bending;
- and
- adjustable stop means attached to the ski and being fixed relative to the support member, said stop means having multiple stopping sections and means for moving said stop means for selectively presenting at least one or more stopping sections into the paths of said resilient finger members for engaging said finger members and controlling the stiffness of the ski.
1 more element
A system for changing the underfoot stiffness of a ski, said system comprising:
- a support assembly having a first end portion fixable to a ski, and a second, free end portion slidable over the ski as the ski bends, said free end portion having engagement means comprising a plurality of elongated resilient finger members projecting therefrom;
- and
- adjustable stop means comprising a cam disc fixable to the ski and pivotable about an axis, said cam disc containing a plurality of peripheral sections at least some of which having different pivot radii;
- said cam disc being pivotal so as to locate different said peripheral sections in juxtaposition to different said finger members, wherein the contact of said fingers with said peripheral sections limits the degree to which the free end portion can slide over the ski, and therefore, the rigidity of the ski.
1 more element
A support plate assembly for a safety ski binding, said plate assembly comprising:
- a support plate having an elongated main member and a slide member, said main member having a first end portion adaptable to be attached to a ski in a fixed manner, and a second end portion positioned over, and connected to said slide member by connecting means, said slide member having a free end and an opposite end portion operationally fixable to the ski, said slide member having a plurality of elongated resilient finger members projecting from the free end portion;
- a slide member bearing yoke fixable to said ski for retaining said slide member in a sliding relationship;
- and
- adjustable stop means comprising a cam disc pivotal about a vertical axis and having a plurality of peripheral sections engageable by said finger members, at least some of said peripheral sections having different pivot radii;
- said cam disc limiting the degree to which said slide member can slide through said slide member bearing yoke by engagement of said sections with said finger members.
2 more elements
A system for changing the stiffness of a ski, said system comprising:
- a first member attachable to a ski, said first member having a fixed end fixable to a ski and a free end movable on the ski as the ski bends;
- a stop member operatively associated with said free end;
- first resilient means associated with said stop member and operatively engageable with said free end of said first member as the ski bends a predetermined amount;
- and
- second resilient means associated with said stop member and operatively engageable with said free end after engagement of said first member with said first resilient means and upon bending of the ski beyond said predetermined amount;
