Abstract
A drain sanitizing article (9) for reducing microbiological activity in drain runoff areas having a housing (10), the housing having an inner wall (16) defining an inner opening (18) in the housing, an outer wall (12), and a bottom wall (14) defining a central cavity (15) in the housing (10), a tear strip (20) for destructibly removing the housing outer wall and a portion of the bottom wall (14), a handle (30) spanning the inner opening (18) of the housing (10) and joined to the inner wall (16) of said housing (10); and a chemical sanitizing agent (40).
Claims38
A drain sanitizing article for dispensing a chemical sanitizing agent, capable of sanitizing running and standing drainage, said drain sanitizing article comprising an annular housing, a said housing having an inner wall, defining an opening in said housing for the passage of drainage over the article into the drain, an outer wall, and a bottom wall, said bottom wall cooperatively connecting said inner and outer walls and forming an inner cavity in said housing, and a hardened aqueous soluble chemical sanitizing agent, said chemical sanitizing agent contained within the inner cavity of said housing.
A drain sanitizing article for dispensing a chemical sanitizing agent, capable of sanitizing running and standing drainage, said drain sanitizing article comprising an annular housing, said housing having an inner wall defining an opening in said housing for the passage of drainage over the article into the drain, an outer wall, and a bottom wall, said bottom wall cooperatively connecting said inner and outer walls and forming an inner cavity in said housing, said inner cavity for containing the sanitizing agent, a chemical sanitizing agent, said chemical sanitizing agent contained within said housing inner cavity, and means for destructibly removing a portion of said housing, said destructible removing means patterned into said housing wherein tearing said destructible removing means affects removal of a portion of said housing thereby exposing said chemical sanitizing agent.
A method of using a drain sanitizing article for dispensing a chemical sanitizing agent, comprising the steps of:
- (a) providing a drain sanitizing article comprising a housing, said housing have an inner wall, outer wall and a bottom wall, said bottom wall cooperatively connecting said inner and outer walls and forming cavity in said housing, said inner cavity for containing the sanitizing agent, said inner wall defining an opening in said housing, means for destructibly removing a portion of said housing patterned into said housing, and a chemical sanitizing agent, said chemical sanitizing agent contained within the inner cavity of said housing, wherein tearing said destructible removing means affects removal of a portion of said housing thereby exposing the sanitizing agent;
- (b) tearing said destructible removing means from said housing;
- (c) removing a portion of said housing from said drain sanitizing article;
- and
- (d) placing the drain sanitizing article in a drain runoff area.
The method of using a drain sanitizing article of claim of 28 wherein the portion of said housing destructibly removed comprises said housing outer and bottom wall.
A drain sanitizing article capable of sanitizing running or standing drainage, said article comprising an annular housing said housing comprising at least one wall defining a central opening and an annular sanitizer within said annular housing wherein said article is configured to cooperatively engage a drain upon use without obstructing the drain so as to cause drainage to pass over said sanitizer and through the central opening in said annular housing into the drain.
