Abstract
The present invention describes photographic materials containing stable phenolic cyan dye-forming coupler formulations which include a coupler having a p-cyanophenylureido group in the 2 position and an acylamino ballast having a sulfone group in the 5-position of the phenolic ring.
Claims18
A photographic recording material comprising a support and a photosensitive silver halide emulsion which has associated therewith (1) a cyan dye-forming coupler component comprising (a) from about 20 to 100% by weight of a sulfone group containing coupler compound having the structural formula:
- ##STR26## wherein:
- R.sup.1 is alkyl having 2 or 3 carbon atoms;
- and (b) up to about 80% by weight of a coupler compound having the structural formula:
- ##STR27## wherein:
- R.sup.2 is a ballast group;
- and
- X is hydrogen or a coupling-off group, said coupler component being dispersed in (2) a coupler solvent component which comprises (c) from 1 to about 50% by weight of N,N-diethyllauramide and (d) from about 50 to about 99% by weight of a dialkyl phthalate compound.
A photosensitive silver halide emulsion which has associated therewith (1) a cyan dye-forming coupler component comprising (a) from about 20 to 100% by weight of a sulfone group containing coupler compound having the structural formula:
- ##STR31## wherein:
- R.sup.1 is alkyl having 2 or 3 carbon atoms;
- and (b) up to about 80% by weight of coupler compound having the structural formula:
- ##STR32## wherein:
- R.sup.2 is a ballast group;
- and
- X is hydrogen or a coupling-off group, said coupler component being dispersed in 2) a coupler solvent component which comprises (c) from 1 to about 50% by weight of N,N-diethyllauramide and (d) from about 50 to about 99% by weight of a dialkyl phthalate compound.
