Abstract
Holograms which contain gelatin as the binder are prepared by holographically exposing the material by use of coherent light, developing the holographic image by a chemical or physical process and before processing, simultaneously or subsequently, treating the material with a solution of a gelatin reactive compound which has a molecular weight of over 200 and which reacts with the gelatin to form covalent bonds therewith to increase the molecular bulk of the gelatin.
Claims13
A method of preparing a hologram which uses gelatin as the binder which method comprises holographically exposing the material by use of coherent light, developing the holographic image by a chemical or physical process and before processing, simultaneously or subsequently, treating the material with a solution of a gelatin reactive compound which has a molecular weight of over 200 and which reacts with the gelatin to form covalent bond therewith to increase the molecular bulk of the gelatin, the increase in the molecular bulk of the gelatin achieving a bathochromic shift in the replay wavelength of the hologram in the range of from 10 to 248.1 nm.
