Abstract
Compounds defined by the generic formula ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen or hydroxyl, R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of methyl and hydrogen; R.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl including methyl, ethyl, propyl and butyl and methoxy; R.sub.3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, methyl and ethyl; m is 0 or 1; and n is 1 or 2, exhibit herbicidal activity.
Claims15
A compound having the formula ##STR5## wherein R is hydrogen or hydroxyl, R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of methyl and hydrogen;
- R.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of methyl, ethyl, propyl and butyl and methoxy;
- R.sub.3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, methyl and ethyl;
- m is 0 or 1;
- and n is 1 or 2 provided that m+n equals 2.
A composition of matter comprising
- (1) a herbicidally effective amount of the compound having the formula ##STR6## wherein R is hydrogen or hydroxyl, R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of methyl and hydrogen;
- R.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of methyl, ethyl, propyl and butyl and methoxy;
- R.sub.3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, methyl and ethyl;
- m is 0 or 1;
- and n is 1 or 2 provided that m+n equals 2, and
- (2) an inert carrier.
A method of controlling undesirable vegetation comprising applying to the locus thereof a herbicidally effective amount of the compound having the formula ##STR7## wherein R is hydrogen or hydroxyl, R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of methyl and hydrogen;
- R.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of methyl, ethyl, propyl and butyl and methoxy;
- R.sub.3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, methyl and ethyl;
- m is 0 or 1;
- and n is 1 or 2 provided that m+n equals 2.
