Abstract
In order to reduce the intermixing of air and exhaust gases in the cells of gas dynamic compression wave machines caused by the formation of shear layer vortices, the geometry of the leading side of the high pressure inlet orifice facing the bucket wheel has a curved convex or convex-polygonal configuration. Also, the ends of cell walls at the gas inlet ends thereof can be of a profiled configuration to further improve the gas flow conditions in the cells.
Claims5
In a gas dynamic compression wave machine of the type comprising a bucket wheel rotating centrally between lateral housing parts on air and gas sides of the wheel, each housing part including inlet and outlet orifices, wherein a high pressure gas inlet orifice has a profiled configuration at its opening toward the bucket wheel, the improvement wherein the profile is on a leading edge of said orifice and is of convex shape to prevent shear layer vortexes.
