Abstract
Oxidized carbonaceous materials suitable for reinforcing such diene rubbers as styrene-butadiene rubber and natural rubber include carbon, oxidized iron dispersed in, intimately associated with and at least partially bonded to the carbon, and hydrogen.
Claims3
A composition comprising a major amount of diene rubber and a minor amount of oxidized carbonaceous material comprising carbon in an amount of about 80% to about 99%;
- oxidized iron dispersed in, intimately associated with and at least partially bonded to the carbon in an amount of about 1% to about 15%;
- and hydrogen in an amount of about 0.1% to about 1.5% by weight.
