Abstract
An apparatus for controlling metal coatings on wire, strip, mesh or the like, emerging substantially vertically from metal baths, comprising an electromagnetic device adapted for situation at or below the point of emergence of the wire, strip, mesh or the like from the molten bath, said electromagnetic device providing an alternating electromagnetic field generated by single phase alternating electric current, and the positioning being such that the point of emergence is always within the electromagnetic field.
Claims21
An apparatus for controlling metal coatings on wire, strip, mesh or the like, comprising a molten metal bath from which the wire, strip, mesh or the like emerges substantially vertically, an electromagnetic device at least partially immersed in the bath, said electromagnetic device providing an alternating electromagnetic field generated by single phase alternating electric current, and the positioning being such that the electromagnetic field is applied at or below the point of emergence and such that the point of emergence is always within the electromagnetic field.
Apparatus for controlling metal coatings on wire, strip, mesh or the like, comprising a molten metal bath from which the wire, strip, mesh or the like emerges substantially vertically, an electromagnetic device supplied with single phase alternating electric current to thereby generate an alternating electromagnetic field, said device being at least partially immersed in the bath and so located that the point of emergence of the wire, strip, mesh or the like is within the magnetic field and that the field is applied at or below the point of emergence of the wire, strip, mesh or the like from the molten bath, whereby said device controls the coating weight per unit of area.
