Abstract
Mordanting agents for anionic organic compounds are described which comprise recurring units of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or methyl; A is methylene or methylene substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl; n is 0 or 1; R.sub.2 is alkyl, and X is an acid radical. They are particularly suitable for hindering diffusion of dyes in hydrophilic colloid media e.g. hydrophilic colloid layers of a photographic silver halide element, for hindering diffusion of color couplers in such layers e.g. layers of a radiographic silver halide color element and for the formation of color images by the relief imbibition process.
Claims5
A polymeric mordanting agent comprising recurring units of the general structure:
- ##STR10## wherein:

- A stands for methylene or methylene substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl,
- n stands for 0 or 1,
- R.sub.2 stands for alkyl, and
- X stands for an acid radical.
