Abstract
.alpha.-Acylacetanilide yellow-forming couplers having a cyclic 5- or 6-membered sulfonamide group attached through its nitrogen atom to the phenyl group of the anilide portion of the molecule provide dyes of better light stability. The couplers include both 2-equivalent and 4-equivalent couplers.

Colour photographic material comprising at least one light-sensitive silver halide emuslion layer and containing in said silver halide emulsion layer or a layer adjacent thereto, a benzoyl or alkoyl acetanilide yellow-forming coupler, characterised in that the anilide ring has directly substituted on it the nitrogen of a cyclic alkylene sulphonamide group in which the cycle has 5 or 6 members.
