Abstract
A solid surface is coated with an adhesive composition comprising an aromatic polysulphone which has a reduced viscosity of at least 0.3 and which contains at least 0.2 (desirably 0.5 to 3.5) hydroxyl groups per 100 polymer repeat units and has been heated at 330.degree. C to 450.degree. C in the presence of oxygen.
Claims7
A method for increasing the molecular weight of aromtic polysulphone comprises heating a thermoplastic aromatic polysulphone having reduced viscosity of at least 0.3 (as measured at 25.degree. C on a solution in dimethyl formamide containing 1 g of polymer in 100 cm.sup.3 of solution) and containing at least 0.2 aromatically bound hydroxyl groups per 100 polymer repeat units at a temperature of 330.degree. C to 450.degree. C in the presence of oxygen.
