A cooling and energy recovery system for electronic equipment includes a sealed server chassis and a dual-pipe heat exchanger fluidly coupled to the sealed server chassis by an exhaust pipe and a supply pipe. The dual-pipe heat exchanger includes an inner pipe and an outer pipe defining an annular space therebetween. Gas heated by electronic equipment circulates from the sealed server chassis through the inner pipe and back to the sealed server chassis. Nitrogen circulating through the annular space absorbs heat from the gas flowing through the inner pipe. An inner screw turbine disposed within the inner pipe rotates in response to flow of the gas and is coupled to a generator. An outer turbine disposed within the annular space rotates in response to flow and expansion of the nitrogen. In some embodiments, magnetic levitation assemblies support the turbines.
