Abstract
Methods, apparatuses, and computer readable media for dynamic power save with initial control frame, where an AP is configured to: encode, for transmission, a first frame, the first frame comprising an indication that an initial Control frame (ICF) is required for the AP, transition to a low capability (LC) mode, decode, from a station (STA), a pre-association request frame, contend, after a transition delay period, for a wireless medium, encode, for transmission to the STA, a response frame to the pre-association request frame.
Claims20
An apparatus for an access point (AP), the apparatus comprising:
- memory;
- and processing circuitry coupled to the memory, the processing circuitry configured to:
- encode, for transmission, a first frame, the first frame comprising an indication that an initial Control frame (ICF) is required for the AP;
- transition to a low capability (LC) mode;
- decode, from a station (STA), a pre-association request frame;
- contend, after a transition delay period, for a wireless medium;
- and
- encode, for transmission to the STA, a response frame to the pre-association request frame.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium including instructions that, when processed by one or more processors, configure an apparatus of an access point (AP) to perform operations comprising:
- encode, for transmission, a first frame, the first frame comprising an indication that an initial Control frame (ICF) is required for the AP;
- transition to a low capability (LC) mode;
- decode, from a station (STA), a pre-association request frame;
- contend, after a transition delay period, for a wireless medium;
- and
- encode, for transmission to the STA, a response frame to the pre-association request frame.
An apparatus for a station (STA), the apparatus comprising:
- memory;
- and processing circuitry coupled to the memory, the processing circuitry configured to:
- decode, from an access point (AP), a first frame, the first frame comprising an indication that an initial Control frame (ICF) is required for the AP;
- encode, for transmission to the AP, an ICF frame;
- encode, for transmission to the AP, a pre-association request frame;
- and
- decode, from the AP, a response frame to the pre-association request frame.
