System and method of operating household appliances

Abstract

A method for operating a group of household appliances includes connecting each household appliance of the group to one local network of a plurality of local networks. Additionally, the method includes connecting each gateway of a group of gateways to one local network of the plurality of local networks. Furthermore, the method includes commissioning the group of gateways, the group of household appliances, and a group of sensors to a single account in a cloud computing network. Moreover, the method includes receiving, at a gateway of the group, an input indicative of a household appliance triggering event from a sensor of the group of sensors. Additionally, the method includes identifying a household appliance of the group connected to the one local network to which the gateway is connected. Furthermore, the method includes adjusting an operation of the identified household appliance based on the received input indicative of the triggering event.
