Abstract
A method for an autonomous vehicle includes: controlling at least one system of the vehicle by a host system; monitoring, by a memory device, data associated with operation of the vehicle; determining, by the memory device based on the monitoring, first data to collect from the vehicle; collecting, by the memory device independently of the host system, the first data; and storing, by the memory device, the collected first data in a non-volatile memory.

An apparatus comprising:
- at least one sensor;
- volatile memory;
- non-volatile memory;
- and
- at least one processor configured to:
- receive, from the at least one sensor, first data that is associated with operation of systems of a vehicle, wherein the operation of the systems is controlled by a host processor of the vehicle;
- store, based on receipt of the first data, the first data in the volatile memory;
- and
- transfer, automatically in response to monitoring the first data, a copy of second data having a type from the volatile memory to the non-volatile memory to permanently store the copy of the second data, wherein the type of the second data is determined in real-time based on the first data.

An apparatus comprising:
- volatile memory;
- non-volatile memory;
- and
- at least one processor configured to:
- receive, from at least one sensor of a vehicle, first data associated with operation of the vehicle, wherein a host processor of the vehicle is configured to control the operation of the vehicle using a plurality of systems;
- store, in response to receipt of the first data, the first data in the volatile memory;
- and
- store, in response to monitoring the first data, a copy of second data having a determined type to the non-volatile memory, the determined type of the second data based on signals from the host processor.

A method comprising:
- storing, by a memory device of a vehicle, sensor data associated with systems of the vehicle in a volatile memory of the memory device, the sensor data received from a first sensor of the vehicle, wherein the systems of the vehicle are controlled by a host system of the vehicle;
- receiving, by the memory device and from the host system, signals;
- and
- transferring, based on monitoring the sensor data and the signals, a copy of first data having a determined type from the volatile memory to non-volatile memory to permanently store the first data, wherein the type of the first data is based on the sensor data and the signals.
