Techniques are disclosed for performing geospatial data processing to generate terrain data suitable for virtual tessellation based on a quadtree and a corresponding folder hierarchy. For this purpose, a tile generation module is used to generate geometry files representing the tiles of the terrain of a georeferenced synthetic environment being generated. A texture generation module is also employed that generates texture files representing the textures of the tiles being generated. A texture coordinate mapping module is further employed that generates texture coordinate mappings that map the tiles to their respective textures. The geometry files, texture files and texture coordinate mapping files are stored in respective folders of the folder hierarchy, each such folder corresponding to a tile being generated. 3D model files corresponding to respective tiles are then generated and supplied to a rendering engine to render the synthetic environment employing virtual tessellation.
A computer-implemented method comprising the steps of:
geometry files in said plurality of folders stored in said destination database.
A geospatial data processing system executing computer-readable instructions stored in a non-transitory storage medium and at least one microprocessor coupled to said non-transitory storage medium for executing said computer-readable instructions, said computer-readable instructions causing said at least one microprocessor to:
