A distributed adaptive cooperative scheduler (DACS) method is disclosed for real-time execution of software represented as advanced output-affecting linear pathways (A-OALPs). The method provides processing and memory resources, associates each A-OALP with time and resource complexity information, and receives start and due times for execution. An A-OALP selection table selects one or more A-OALPs based on input variable attributes, and a maximum number of processing elements is computed using the complexity values. The selected A-OALPs are transmitted to a resource checker that predicts processing time and generates a go/no-go signal relative to the due time. When sufficient resources are indicated, execution of the selected A-OALPs is initiated, and processing elements are dynamically reallocated to compensate for late data arrival or upstream delays, enabling deterministic real-time behavior without reliance on a conventional operating system scheduler.
