Refrigerator and shelving system for a refrigerator

A refrigerator shelving system, comprising:

• a side adapter defining a longitudinal channel extending in a fore-and-aft direction and bounded by a top portion and a bottom portion, the side adapter having an outer side panel defining a laterally open receiving window, the side adapter defining an opening configured to receive a removable stopper;
• a slider having an elongate body extending in the fore-and-aft direction and defining a front and rear bosses, the slider being laterally insertable through the receiving window into the longitudinal channel and thereafter movable fore-and-aft within the longitudinal channel;
• and
• first and second ridges arranged within the longitudinal channel and extending in the fore-and-aft direction, the first ridge projecting upward from the bottom portion and the second ridge projecting downward from the top portion, the first and second ridges being spaced from a front portion of the side adapter to define a clearance region aligned with the receiving window,
• wherein, with the removable stopper installed in the opening, the removable stopper blocks movement of the front boss past the first and second ridges toward the receiving window such that the first and second ridges capture the front boss to laterally restrain the slider within the longitudinal channel, and
• wherein, with the removable stopper removed from the opening, the front boss is permitted to move past the first and second ridges toward the receiving window such that the clearance region permits the front boss to pass through the receiving window during lateral insertion or removal of the slider.
