A method for operating a system for performing a work task of a self-propelled construction machine from a control station located remotely from the construction machine, comprising the steps of:
- a) during a monitoring mode:
- acquiring status data relating to the construction machine at the construction machine using a sensor device;
- transmitting the acquired status data from the construction machine to the control station via a monitoring mode transmission connection;
- b) during a control mode:
- acquiring status data relating to the construction machine at the construction machine using the sensor device;
- transmitting the acquired status data from the construction machine to the control station via a control mode transmission connection;
- generating control data at the control station;
- transmitting the control data from the control station to the construction machine via the control mode transmission connection;
- wherein the control mode transmission connection has a lower latency and/or a higher data transmission rate and/or greater bandwidth compared to the monitoring mode transmission connection.
