Abstract
A water treatment system is provided. The water treatment system includes a treatment tank including an inlet in fluid communication with a source of untreated water, where the untreated water is imparted with a first concentration of an aqueous substance, an outlet designed to provide a treated water from the treatment tank, where the treated water is imparted with a second concentration of the aqueous substance, and a particle bed including zero-valent iron media disposed within the treatment tank, the particle bed designed to produce the treated water from the untreated water.
Claims20
A water treatment system comprising:
- a treatment tank including:
- an inlet in fluid communication with a source of untreated water, wherein the untreated water is imparted with a first concentration of an aqueous substance;
- an outlet designed to provide a treated water from the treatment tank, wherein the treated water is imparted with a second concentration of the aqueous substance;
- and
- a particle bed comprising zero-valent iron media disposed within the treatment tank, the particle bed designed to produce the treated water from the untreated water.
A water treatment system comprising:
- a housing;
- an inlet and an outlet that are in fluid communication with an interior of the housing;
- and
- a zero-valent iron media bed positioned within the interior of the housing, wherein the zero-valent iron media bed is designed to remove a disinfectant compound from an untreated water provided to the inlet.
A method for reducing a concentration of a disinfectant in a water stream, the method comprising:
- providing a zero-valent iron media bed in a water treatment system;
- and
- passing untreated water through the zero-valent iron media bed to remove the disinfectant from the untreated water, thereby producing a treated water.
