State Detection and Cushion Response for Cushion Systems

A method of using a cushion system for a seat, comprising:

• providing a cushion system, the cushion system comprising:
• a plurality of bladders;
• a first sensor configured to measure pressure in at least one of the plurality of bladders;
• and
• a second sensor configured to detect a position of the seat;
• determining a first state of the seat based at least in part on data from the second sensor;
• detecting a transition from the first state to a second state based at least in part on data from the second sensor;
• determining a target pressure distribution for the second state;
• and
• adjusting an air pressure in one or more of the plurality of bladders to achieve the target pressure distribution.
