An electrified vehicle includes a powertrain mechanically connected to a main drive wheel, which is a rear wheel, and having a drive motor. The electrified vehicle further includes a driving force distribution device configured to selectively distribute output torque of the powertrain to an auxiliary drive wheel, which is a front wheel. The electrified vehicle further includes a controller configured to, upon receiving a braking demand, determine whether the auxiliary drive wheel participates in regenerative braking based on a regenerative braking capacity of the drive motor. The controller is further configured to control the drive motor and the driving force distribution device based on a determination result of whether the auxiliary drive wheel participates in the regenerative braking.
