Co-Molded Rigid Cap With Integrated RFID and Cap End Torque Transmission Feature

A syringe, comprising:

• a syringe barrel comprising a proximal end and a distal end and defining a chamber, the syringe barrel having an opening at the proximal end;
• a plunger assembly inserted through the opening and axially movable within the chamber of the syringe barrel, the plunger assembly including:
• a plunger rod comprising an elongated body and extending between a proximal end and a distal end;
• and
• a stopper attached to the distal end of plunger rod and positioned within the barrel chamber;
• and
• a rigid cap, the rigid cap comprising:
• a cap housing comprising a proximal end and a distal end and defining an internal cavity, and
• a radio frequency identification (RFID) element integrated with the cap housing at the distal end;
• wherein the cap housing comprises a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart teeth extending out axially from the distal end thereof, wherein the teeth extend in a longitudinal direction of the cap and provide for engagement with a twisting tool to apply a torque thereto:
• wherein the rigid cap is coupled to an adapter at the distal end of the syringe barrel.
