Specialty-specific inflow pump parameters

An inflow pump cassette comprising:

• a cassette housing including a first major wall and a second major wall spaced from the first major wall by a sidewall, the sidewall defining a bay;
• a distribution tube extending between the cassette housing and a liquid distribution end configured to apply a liquid to a surgical site;
• an input tube extending from the cassette housing to a fluid source;
• a bridge tube in fluid communication between the distribution tube and the input tube;
• and
• an identifier module coupled to the cassette housing and containing identification data associated with a characteristic of at least one of the distribution tube, the input tube, and the bridge tube.

A pump console comprising:

• a user interface;
• a cassette loading dock configured to receive an inflow pump cassette with a liquid distribution tool configured to supply a liquid to a surgical cavity, the inflow pump cassette including an identifier module containing identification data of an optimal pump setting;
• a pump with a plurality of pump settings in addition to the optimal pump setting that is configured to interface with the inflow pump cassette for effectuating a flow rate of the liquid to the surgical cavity;
• a pressure sensor unit is located proximate the loading dock and configured to detect a reaction from a pressure module associated with the inflow pump cassette;
• an identification sensor is located proximate the loading dock and configured to detect the identifier module and obtain the identification data;
• and
• a control system including a processor and a memory, the memory containing instructions that when carried out by the processor, cause the processor to:
• receive the identification data;
• receive the reaction from the pressure module detected by the pressure sensor unit;
• and
• translate the reaction from the pressure module to a pressure within the surgical cavity.
