Abstract

Disclosed is a device, comprising a handle, a rotatable shaft, a sleeve comprising a first curved, hollow, stainless steel (magnetized) tube and a second curved, hollow, stainless steel (magnetized) tube, wherein the first tube is positioned on a first side of the shaft and the second tube is positioned on a second side of the shaft, wherein the first tube comprises a sharp tip and the second tube comprises a sharp tip, with a reciprocating shuttle and a curved needle positioned in the sleeve, wherein the sleeve having an inner diameter large enough to accommodate the needle and shuttle, and wherein the shuttle is positioned between the sleeve and the needle. Rotation of the shaft moves the shuttle which in turn moves the needle through the sleeve.

Dependent claims

A suturing device comprising:

a housing with a top end, a bottom end, a first side, and a second side, wherein the second side opposes the first side;
a first rotatable shaft with a first end and a second end, wherein the first rotatable shaft is coupled to a first roller gear that is proximal to the second end of the first rotatable shaft, and wherein the first roller gear and the second end of the first rotatable shaft are positioned in the housing;
a second rotatable shaft with a first end and a second end, wherein the second rotatable shaft is coupled to a second roller gear that is proximal to the second end of the second rotatable shaft, and wherein the second roller gear and the second end of the second rotatable shaft are positioned in the housing, and wherein the first roller gear is configured to engage with the second roller gear;
and
a sleeve comprising:
a first tube having a first end and a second end, wherein the second end of the first tube is positioned on the first side of the housing;
a second tube having a first end and a second end, wherein the second end of the second tube is positioned on the second side of the housing;
and
a reciprocating shuttle and a needle positioned in the sleeve.
