A system for identifying a cardiac arrhythmia event in a patient includes an implantable medical device for sensing electrocardiogram signals, the implantable medical device including an arrangement of electrode poles configured to sense electrocardiogram signals. A processing arrangement is configured to use a first setting of at least one detection parameter for detecting a cardiac arrhythmia event based on said electrocardiogram signals, obtain information indicative of a myocardial infarction event, and in response to obtaining said information, adapt said at least one detection parameter to a second setting different than the first setting for detecting a cardiac arrhythmia event in a time period subsequent to obtaining said information indicative of a myocardial infarction event.
