Abstract

A hair extension kit includes an elongated base strip and an elongated accessory strip. The base strip has a plurality of natural hair-receiving passages spaced along its length, allowing it to be secured to a user's scalp by threading a first portion of natural hair through the passages while a second portion of hair remains along the front or rear side of the strip. The accessory strip includes a structural substrate configured to support a plurality of hair wefts. The rear side of the accessory strip is designed to be releasably connectable to the front side of the base strip, allowing for modular application and removal of the hair extensions while the base strip remains secured to the natural hair.

Dependent claims

A hair extension kit, comprising:

an elongated base strip having a front side, a rear side, and a plurality of natural hair-receiving passages spaced along a length thereof such that the base strip is securable to a scalp of a user when a first portion of the user's natural hair is positioned through the natural hair-receiving passages of the base strip and a second portion of the natural hair is positioned along at least one of the front side and the rear side of the base strip;
and
an elongated accessory strip having a front side, a rear side, and a structural substrate configured to receive and support a plurality of wefts of hair,
wherein the rear side of the accessory strip is releasably connectable to the front side of the base strip.

A method for assembling a hair extension apparatus, the method comprising:

obtaining a hair extension kit comprising an elongated base strip having a plurality of natural hair-receiving passages and an elongated accessory strip having a structural substrate;
attaching a proximal end of a plurality of hair wefts to the structural substrate of the accessory strip;
securing the base strip to a scalp by threading a first portion of natural hair through the plurality of natural hair-receiving passages formed on the base strip;
securing the first portion of natural hair and a second portion of natural hair with a connecting member at a lateral side of the base strip to anchor the base strip proximal to the scalp;
and
releasably connecting a rear side of the accessory strip to a front side of the base strip.
