Systems and methods for determining a center pivot point of a circular path based on points passed through by a vehicle

A vehicle navigation system, comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• one or more data storage devices having computer-readable instructions stored thereon, the computer-readable instructions configured to instruct the one or more processors to:
• track a position of a vehicle as the vehicle is driven over a portion of a path to be traversed by the vehicle, the path at least substantially circular;
• determine a preliminary arc comprising an estimate of the portion of the path;
• determine an estimate of a remainder of the path based, at least in part, on the preliminary arc;
• provide vehicle guidance to guide motion of the vehicle along the estimate of the remainder of the path;
• and
• determine a center pivot point of the path based, at least in part, on the estimate of the remainder of the path and adjustments made to the motion of the vehicle away from the estimate of the remainder of the path.

A method of operating a vehicle navigation system, the method comprising:

• recording two or more position points passed through by a vehicle along a portion of a path to be traversed by the vehicle, the path at least substantially circular;
• determining a preliminary arc based, at least in part, on the two or more position points;
• determining an estimate of a remainder of the path based, at least in part, on the preliminary arc;
• engaging a guidance system to provide vehicle guidance to guide motion of the vehicle along the estimate of the remainder of the path;
• determining a center pivot point of the path based, at least in part, on the estimate of the remainder of the path and adjustments made to the motion of the vehicle away from the estimate of the remainder of the path.
