Electrical connector

An electrical connector to which a counterpart connector is matingly connected, said electrical connector comprising:

• a plurality of terminals shaped by bending a sheet metal member in a through-thickness direction and arranged side by side in a terminal width direction perpendicular to through-thickness face, and
• a housing that retains the plurality of terminals, wherein:
• the terminals have a retained portion, which is retained in the housing, and an arm portion, which extends from the retained portion toward a mating side in a direction of mating with the counterpart connector and is capable of making contact with a counterpart terminal provided in the counterpart connector using a contact surface formed on one major face,
• the housing has retaining portions, which retain the retained portion, and wall portions, which are located closer to the mating side than the retaining portion and face the other major face of the arm portion,
• the retained portion is press-fitted into a retaining portion in a direction toward the mating side using press-fit portions formed on opposite sides in the terminal width direction,
• the arm portion is formed of smaller terminal width dimensions than those of the retained portion and is positioned with a gap formed between the arm portion and the wall portion in the direction facing the wall portion, and protrusions are provided protruding from the other major face within the range of the gap.
