Battery Cell and Battery Module Including the Same

A battery cell comprising:

• a battery case having an accommodation portion in which an electrode assembly is disposed and a sealing portion formed by sealing an outer periphery of the battery case;
• and
• a gas discharge portion inserted into the sealing portion and extending from an inside of the battery case toward an outside of the battery case across the sealing portion,
• wherein the gas discharge portion includes a non-adhesive layer folded about a boundary line into a first folded portion and a second folded portion that face each other, and an adhesive layer disposed on the non-adhesive layer,
• wherein the adhesive layer is disposed on the non-adhesive layer to define an adhesive-free region on a surface of the non-adhesive layer, the adhesive-free region defining an internal space open toward the inside of the battery case as a gas inlet of the gas discharge portion, and
• wherein portions of the adhesive layer carried by the first folded portion are fused within the sealing portion to portions of the adhesive layer carried by the second folded portion to gas-tightly seal the gas discharge portion within the sealing portion at regions surrounding the adhesive-free region.
