Managed folders

A system, comprising:

• a database;
• and
• a messaging server configured to:
• generate, on an administrator device, a chat settings graphical user interface (GUI) comprising a list of one or more chat channels stored in a matter folder, the matter folder having permissions specifying roles to access the matter folder;
• receive, via the chat settings GUI, a command from a folder administrator to create an additional chat channel in the matter folder, the folder administrator assigned by a global matter administrator to have administrative permissions for the matter folder;
• in response to the command, generate, in the database, the additional chat channel in the matter folder;
• and
• generate, on a user device, a workspace graphical user interface (GUI) comprising a chat panel corresponding to the additional chat channel to which a user has a role allowed within the permissions.

A non-transitory computer-readable device having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by at least one computing device, causes the at least one computing device to perform operations comprising:

• generating, by a messaging server and on an administrator device, a chat settings graphical user interface (GUI) comprising a list of one or more chat channels stored in a matter folder, the matter folder having permissions specifying roles to access the matter folder;
• receiving, by the messaging server and via the chat settings GUI, a command from a folder administrator to create an additional chat channel in the matter folder, the folder administrator assigned by a global matter administrator to have administrative permissions for the matter folder;
• in response to the command, generating, by the messaging server in a database, the additional chat channel in the matter folder;
• and
• generating, by the messaging server and on a user device, a workspace graphical user interface (GUI) comprising a chat panel corresponding to the additional chat channel to which a user has a role allowed within the permissions.
