Abstract
An optical device is fabricated by obtaining at least one optical element and a frame. The at least one optical element is arranged within the frame according to a spatial configuration that defines a position of the at least one optical element in the frame and an orientation of the at least one optical element relative to the frame. The at least one optical element is bonded to the frame to fix the spatial configuration, and regions of the frame unoccupied by the at least one optical element are filled with a transparent optical material.
Claims24
A method for fabricating an optical device, the method comprising:
- obtaining at least one optical element;
- obtaining a frame;
- arranging the at least one optical element within the frame according to a spatial configuration that defines a position of the at least one optical element in the frame and an orientation of the at least one optical element relative to the frame;
- bonding the at least one optical element to the frame to fix the spatial configuration;
- filling regions of the frame unoccupied by the at least one optical element with a transparent optical material;
- and
- prior to filling the regions of the frame with the transparent optical material, arranging the frame between a pair of parallel surfaces such that the at least one optical element is located between the parallel surfaces.
