Abstract
A radar system determines at least one slip angle of a heavy-duty vehicle with respect to a ground plane supporting the vehicle. The radar system has at least one radar transceiver arranged to transmit and to receive a radar signal via an antenna array, over a range of azimuth directions, and processing circuitry arranged to evaluate a received non-zero Doppler power over the range of azimuth directions. The processing circuitry is arranged to determine a slip angle of the heavy-duty vehicle as the azimuth direction associated with smallest received non-zero Doppler power over the range of azimuth directions.
Claims19
A radar system configured to determine at least one slip angle of a heavy-duty vehicle with respect to a ground plane supporting the vehicle, the radar system comprising
- at least one radar transceiver arranged to transmit and to receive a radar signal via an antenna array, over a range of azimuth directions, and
- processing circuitry arranged to evaluate a received non-zero Doppler power over the range of azimuth directions,
- where the processing circuitry is arranged to determine the slip angle of the heavy-duty vehicle as the azimuth direction associated with smallest received non-zero Doppler power over the range of azimuth directions.
A computer-implemented method for determining a slip angle of a heavy-duty vehicle with respect to a ground plane supporting the vehicle, the method comprising
- configuring at least one radar transceiver to transmit and to receive a radar signal via an antenna array, over a range of azimuth directions,
- evaluating a received non-zero Doppler power over the range of azimuth directions, and
- determining the slip angle of the heavy-duty vehicle as the azimuth direction associated with smallest received non-zero Doppler power over the range of azimuth directions.
