Abstract
Provided are an apparatus and a method for controlling a cooking appliance. The apparatus and the method for controlling a cooking appliance receive a vibration detection signal resulting from knocks, and in response to that the vibration detection signal matches preset knock information, perform an operation of the cooking appliance corresponding to a knock-on function matching the knock information.

An apparatus for controlling a cooking appliance, the apparatus comprising:
- a vibration sensor configured to detect vibration resulting from at least two times of knocks and provide a vibration detection signal corresponding to the detected vibration to a controller;
- and
- a controller configured to:
- determine whether the vibration detection signal matches predetermined knock information;
- upon determination that the vibration detection signal matches the knock information, identify a knock-on function matching the knock information;
- and
- control an operation of the cooking appliance corresponding to the knock-on function.

- receiving a vibration detection signal corresponding to vibration resulting from at least two times of knocks;
- determining whether the vibration detection signal matches predetermined knock information;
