Abstract
Provided is an apparatus for controlling a cooking appliance. The control apparatus generates knock information based on a vibration detection signal resulting from at least two knocks, and matches one of various operations of the cooking appliance with the knock information to set a knock-on function corresponding to the matched operation.

An apparatus for controlling a cooking appliance, the apparatus comprising:
- a vibration sensor configured to detect vibration resulting from at least two knocks and generate and provide a vibration detection signal corresponding to the detected vibration to a controller;
- and
- the controller configured to:
- receive the vibration detection signal;
- generate knock information based on a magnitude and an interval of the vibration detection signal;
- and
- match one of at least one operation of the cooking appliance with the knock information to set a knock-on function corresponding to the matched operation.

A method for controlling a cooking appliance, the method comprising:
- receiving a vibration detection signal, wherein the vibration detection signal is generated based on vibration resulting from at least two knocks;
- generating knock information based on a magnitude and an interval of the vibration detection signal;
- and
- matching one of at least one operation of the cooking appliance with the knock information to set a knock-on function corresponding to the matched operation.
