Abstract

An exhaust gas recirculation system recirculates, as EGR gas, at least part of exhaust gas discharged from an engine main body from an exhaust port to an intake port of the engine main body. The exhaust gas recirculation system includes an EGR path, a cooling unit, a bypass path, and a control unit. The EGR path connects the exhaust port and the intake port and allows the EGR gas to pass through the EGR path. The cooling unit includes a cooling path included in the EGR path and cools the EGR gas passing through the cooling path. The bypass path connects an inlet and an outlet of the cooling path. The control unit recirculates the EGR gas in a bypass mode in which the EGR gas is caused to flow through the bypass path to bypass the cooling path when a determination condition is satisfied.
