Abstract
A system includes a cylinder liner assembly configured to line a cylinder around a tight top land piston. The cylinder liner assembly includes a cylinder liner having an inner liner surface extending circumferentially about a central axis and an anti-polishing ring.
Claims20
A system, comprising:
- a cylinder liner configured to extend around a piston, wherein the cylinder liner comprises an inner liner surface extending circumferentially about a central axis;
- and
- an anti-polishing ring coupled to the cylinder liner, wherein the anti-polishing ring comprises a tapered portion having a tapered inner surface extending circumferentially about the central axis, wherein a first axial height spanning from a bottom surface of the anti-polishing ring to a top end of the tapered inner surface is greater than half of a second axial height spanning from a top surface of a top ring groove of the piston to an additional top surface of the piston.
A system, comprising:
- an anti-polishing ring configured to couple to a cylinder liner of a cylinder surrounding a piston, wherein the anti-polishing ring comprises a tapered portion having a tapered inner surface extending circumferentially about a central axis, wherein a first axial height spanning from a bottom surface of the anti-polishing ring to a top end of the tapered inner surface is greater than half of a second axial height spanning from a top surface of a top ring groove of the piston to an additional top surface of the piston.
A method, comprising:
- lining a cylinder with a cylinder liner around a piston, wherein the cylinder liner comprises an inner liner surface extending circumferentially about a central axis;
- and
- reducing bore polishing with an anti-polishing ring coupled to the cylinder liner, wherein the anti-polishing ring comprises a tapered portion having a tapered inner surface extending circumferentially about the central axis, wherein a first axial height spanning from a bottom surface of the anti-polishing ring to a top end of the tapered inner surface is greater than half of a second axial height spanning from a top surface of a top ring groove of the piston to an additional top surface of the piston.
