Abstract

A construction machine is provided which is a paving machine or a feeder vehicle for a paving machine. The construction machine defines an XYZ-coordinate system in which a longitudinal direction of the construction machine is an X-direction, a width direction of the construction machine is a Y-direction, and a height direction of the construction machine is a Z-direction. The construction machine includes a material hopper for receiving bulk material, wherein the material hopper comprises: a proximal end and a distal end; a material deflector formed at the distal end of the material hopper such that it is foldable between a closed position and an open position; and a biasing element that applies a biasing force to the material deflector in the direction of the closed position.
