Laundry appliance with removable basket assembly

A laundry appliance, comprising:

• a drum defining an interior, wherein the drum has a drum opening opposite a closed end along a rotational axis;
• an impeller operably coupled with the closed end of the drum, wherein the impeller includes a receiver and protrusions proximate to the receiver;
• and
• a basket assembly selectively couplable with the impeller, wherein the basket assembly includes:
• an outer basket including a sidewall and agitation fins extending outwardly from the sidewall, wherein the sidewall defines openings;
• an inner basket disposed within the outer basket, wherein the inner basket is movable within the outer basket along the rotational axis, and wherein the inner basket includes handles aligned with the openings;
• a connector configured to be positioned in the receiver to couple the basket assembly with the impeller;
• a locking feature operably coupled with the connector and operable between a retracted position and a deployed position;
• and
• a biasing member configured to bias the locking feature toward the deployed position to lock the basket assembly to the impeller, and wherein a force applied to the handles of the inner basket is configured to move the locking feature to the retracted position to disengage the basket assembly from the impeller.

A basket assembly for a laundry appliance, comprising:

• an outer basket including:
• an outer sidewall defining at least one opening proximate to a top of the outer basket and first fluid apertures arranged along a height of the outer sidewall;
• and
• a connector at a bottom of the outer basket, wherein the connector is configured to engage an impeller of said laundry appliance;
• and
• an inner basket disposed within the outer basket and movable between the top and the bottom of the outer basket, wherein the inner basket includes:
• an inner sidewall defining second fluid apertures that align with the first fluid apertures to provide fluid communication between an area outside the outer basket and an area inside the inner basket;
• at least one handle aligned with the at least one opening of the outer basket;
• and
• a locking feature extending from a bottom of the inner basket, wherein the inner basket is biased toward a deployed position with projections extending through the connector to engage the impeller, and wherein the inner basket is configured to be adjusted to a retracted position in response to a force applied to the at least one handle to disengage the projections from the impeller.
