Abstract

Provided are a coolant and a method for producing the coolant. The coolant includes a solid A and a solid B, wherein the solid A and the solid B contain a compound that undergoes an endothermic reaction when the solid A and the solid B are brought into contact with each other, and at least one of the solid A and the solid B is an agglomerated mass, and when a state in which the agglomerated mass is thrown onto a horizontal surface and come to rest in a most stable state is observed from a direction perpendicular to the horizontal surface, and a smallest gap between two parallel lines tangent to an outline (projected image) of the agglomerated mass is defined as a minor axis diameter (b), an average value (bx) of values obtained by excluding the top 10% and bottom 10% values from lengths of (b) is from 1 mm to 100 mm.
