Abstract

A liquid discharge apparatus includes: a head having nozzle surface having nozzles on the nozzle surface, to discharge liquid from the nozzles in a discharge direction; a suction cap having a lip contactable with the nozzle surface to cap the nozzle surface with the suction cap, the suction cap including an absorber in the suction cap, a cap cleaner, having liquid absorbability, to contact with the lip and clean the lip of the suction cap; a support supporting the cap cleaner to be movable in a capping direction opposite to the discharge direction; and a biasing member configured to bias the cap cleaner toward the suction cap in the discharge direction.
