A fire-rated wall joint seal having a first intumescent layer and a second intumescent layer. The first intumescent layer has a length, a first side surface extending along the length, a second side surface extending along the length, and a thickness defined between the first side surface and the second side surface. The second intumescent layer has a length, a first side surface extending along the length, a second side surface extending along the length, and a thickness defined between the first side surface and the second side surface. The first intumescent layer and the second intumescent layer are formed separately and are attached to one another along their respective first side surfaces by an adhesive joint.
