Abstract
A device and method for treating chronic cough are disclosed. The device generates electrical pulses directed to a region of the spinal cord column. The electrical pulses provide a neuromodulation to mitigate chronic cough. The method includes acquiring a pulse generator, and programming the pulse generator to generate the electrical pulses directed to the region of the spinal cord to provide the neuromodulation to mitigate the chronic cough.
Claims20
A method of treating at least one of refractory chronic cough (RCC), unexplained chronic cough (UCC), and idiopathic cough, the method comprising:
- acquiring a pulse generator configured for neuromodulation;
- and
- programming the pulse generator to generate electrical pulses directed to a region of the spinal cord, the electrical pulses providing the neuromodulation to mitigate at least one of refractory chronic cough (RCC), unexplained chronic cough (UCC), and idiopathic cough.
A method of treating at least one of refractory chronic cough (RCC), unexplained chronic cough (UCC), and idiopathic cough, the method comprising:
- delivering electrical pulses to a targeted region of an epidural space of the patient via one or more implanted electrical contacts, wherein the targeted region is located between the C4 and T4 vertebrae;
- wherein the electrical pulses are defined by an amplitude ranging from 0.5 mAmp to 5.0 mAmp, a frequency ranging from 250 Hz to 500 Hz, and a pulse width ranging from 200 μs to 500 μs;
- and
- wherein the electrical pulses provide neuromodulation that mitigates the at least one of refractory chronic cough (RCC), unexplained chronic cough (UCC), and idiopathic cough.
