Abstract

An antimicrobial composition comprising glycerol and dihydroxyacetone is disclosed. Also, a method of making the antimicrobial composition comprising mixing a reagent comprising glycerol and an oxidant, optionally with a catalyst, is disclosed. The composition can be included in products such as a wound dressing, a food product, a cosmetic product, and a cleaning product. The compositions can be used in the prevention or treatment of a skin condition and in therapy.
