Abstract

The invention relates to a movement device (3) for a seat (2), such as a seat of an item of seating furniture, comprising: a first, higher plate-shaped element (4) which during use extends substantially horizontally in the seat, a second, lower plate-shaped element (5) which during use extends substantially horizontally in the seat below and at a distance from the higher plate-shaped element, a hinge device (6) which is situated between the higher and the lower plate-shaped element and has a pivot point about which the higher plate-shaped element is pivotable with respect to the lower plate element, and a damping device (7) which is designed to damp the hinge function of the hinge device.
