There is disclosed a Heated Tobacco (HT) consumable (100) having a closed end. By closing the end so that the tobacco portion (110) is not exposed to a distal end (104), advantageously, a consumable (100) is provided that reduces the risk or likelihood of tobacco (110) from falling out or being pulled out from the consumable (100) in use or during transportation and/or during the production process. There is therefore provided a consumable (100) wherein a continuous portion of combining paper (120) is wrapped around an aerosol-generating substrate (110) and folded over an end face (114) of the aerosol-generating substrate (110), wherein the portion of the combining paper (120) folded over the end (114) is perforated to allow airflow through the end face (114) of the aerosol-generating substrate (110). There is therefore also provided a method of manufacturing a consumable (100) having a closed end, wherein the method comprises the steps of placing two separate aerosol-generating substrates (110a, 110b) (i.e. tobacco rods) on a combining paper (120), wherein the two aerosol-generating substrates (110a, 110b) are separated by a gap (122), and wrapping the combining paper (120) around the substrates (110a, 110b) followed by the step of cutting the combining paper (120) through the gap (122) to create two part-processed consumables (102), each having a recessed end (104). Here, the method further comprises the step of perforating the combining paper (120) in a region corresponding to the gap (122) and subsequent to the step of cutting the combining paper (120) through the gap (122), folding the perforated portion of the combining paper (120) that overhangs the end face (114) of the aerosol-generating substrate (110) over the end face (114).
A method of manufacturing an aerosol-forming article, the method comprising the steps of:
An aerosol-forming article comprising a wrapping substrate circumscribing an aerosol-generating substrate, wherein a continuous portion of the wrapping substrate is perforated and folded over an end face of the aerosol-generating substrate.
