Euthanasia chamber for receiving intact wire cage traps containing live animals and method of use

A method of euthanizing a squirrel, the method comprising:

• capturing the squirrel in a live-capture squirrel trap;
• placing the live-capture squirrel trap containing the squirrel into an inner chamber of a squirrel euthanizer chamber;
• closing a door of the squirrel euthanizer chamber to provide an airtight or substantially airtight closure;
• and
• introducing a gas into the inner chamber while the squirrel remains inside the live-capture squirrel trap.

A system for euthanizing a squirrel, the system comprising:

• a live-capture squirrel trap configured to contain the squirrel;
• a squirrel euthanizer chamber including an enclosure body defining an inner chamber sized to receive the live-capture squirrel trap, a door movable relative to the enclosure body between an open position and a closed position, and a gas inlet configured to introduce gas into the inner chamber;
• and
• a gas source coupled to the gas inlet,
• wherein the door and the enclosure body are configured to provide an airtight or substantially airtight closure such that the squirrel remains inside the live-capture squirrel trap while gas from the gas source is introduced into the inner chamber.
