A computer chassis with detachable, quick-release mounting brackets is disclosed. The mounting brackets attach to a chassis by inserting a stud of the bracket into a corresponding opening of the chassis. An outwardly biased detent near the distal end of each stud retracts as the stud is inserted into the stud opening, then rebounds outwards after the stud is fully inserted to retain the mounting bracket against the computer chassis. The mounting bracket is easily removed and re-attached by hand by pulling the mounting bracket away from the computer chassis. Once mounting brackets attached to a computer chassis are secured to mounting posts (e.g., posts of a computer rack), they can no longer be moved away from the chassis, thus ensuring the mounting brackets remain secured to the chassis at least until the mounting brackets are uncoupled from the mounting posts.
