Method and apparatus used for high data rate services

A system, comprising:

• a base station configured to transmit a first expiration value;
• and
• a user equipment (UE) configured to:
• receive the first expiration value,
• maintain a first timer, and
• in response to an expiration of the first timer, indicate the expiration of the first timer from a medium access control, MAC, sublayer to an upper layer,
• wherein:
• the first expiration value is used for determining an expiration time of the first timer,
• maintaining the first timer comprises:
• starting or restarting the first timer in response to a MAC entity receiving or sending a MAC service data unit, SDU, of a dedicated traffic channel, DTCH, and
• the expiration of the first timer depends on a state of a first data packet set, maintaining the first timer comprises:
• determining a state of the first timer according to the state of the first data packet set.

A method used in a user equipment (UE), comprising:

• receiving a first expiration value;
• maintaining a first timer;
• and
• in response to an expiration of the first timer indicating the expiration of the first timer from a medium access control, MAC, sublayer to an upper layer, wherein:
• the first expiration value is used for determining an expiration time of the first timer,
• maintaining the first timer comprises:
• starting or restarting the first timer in response to a MAC entity receiving or sending a MAC service data unit, SDU, of a dedicated traffic channel, DTCH, and
• the expiration of the first timer depends on a state of a first data packet set, or maintaining the first timer comprises:
• determining a state of the first timer according to the state of the first data packet set.

A method used in a system for wireless communication, comprising:

• transmitting, by a base station, a first expiration value;
• receiving, by a user equipment (UE) the first expiration value;
• maintaining a first timer;
• and
• in response to an expiration of the first timer, indicating the expiration of the first timer from a medium access control, MAC, sublayer to an upper layer, wherein:
• the first expiration value is used for determining an expiration time of the first timer,
• maintaining the first timer comprises:
• starting or restarting the first timer in response a MAC entity receiving or sending a MAC service data unit (SDU) of a dedicated traffic channel (DTCH) and
• the expiration of the first timer depends on a state of a first data packet set, or maintaining the first timer comprises:
• determining a state of the first timer according to the state of the first data packet set.
