Abstract
One example discloses a method of preemption for latency-sensitive traffic for communications between WLAN (wireless local area network) devices, including: receiving, by an access point (AP), a first frame from a first non-access point station (non-AP STA); transmitting, by the AP, a second frame indicating Transmission Opportunity (TXOP) pre-emption information to the first non-AP STA; and transmitting, to a second non-AP STA, a third frame; wherein the third frame includes latency-sensitive frame.
Claims22
A method of preemption for low-latency traffic for communications between WLAN (wireless local area network) devices, comprising:
- receiving a low-latency frame at a first wireless device;
- receiving a non-low-latency frame from a second wireless device that holds a Transmission Opportunity (TXOP);
- wherein the first wireless device transmits a TXOP preemption indication in a BlockAck (BA) control frame to the second wireless device in response to receiving the non-low-latency frame;
- wherein the first wireless device transmits the low-latency frame to the second wireless device during a preemption period defined by the preemption indication.
A first WLAN (wireless local area network) device configured as an access point (AP), comprising:
- a controller configured define a preemption protocol for low-latency traffic;
- wherein the controller is further configured to:
- receive a low-latency frame;
- receive a non-low-latency frame from a second WLAN device that holds a Transmission Opportunity (TXOP);
- wherein the controller is configured to transmit a TXOP preemption indication in a BlockAck (BA) control frame to the second WLAN device in response to receiving the non-low-latency frame;
- wherein the first WLAN device transmits the low-latency frame to the second WLAN device during a preemption period defined by the preemption indication.
